Bart Simpson v/s 1st Amendment
Today we spent a little time and took two quizzes from Channel One. The first was to test the kid’s knowledge of the popular television show The Simpson’s. The second quiz evaluated how much they knew about the First Amendment to the Constitution. If I asked you each to vote on which you thought the students knew more about I hazard to guess that a large majority would say The Simpson’s. Truth be known – more of the students scored higher on the First Amendment quiz. Over 80% of the students scored over 80% on the First Amendment Quiz. Mrs. Kosuda came through as we were finishing up and decided to ask her own quiz questions. Before joining Norwayne she was selected as Wayne County’s High School Teacher of the Year. I was nervous but the kids passed with flying colors.
Channel One is a short morning news show that informs the kids of current events educating them really without their knowledge. Channel One conducted the same kind of poll on young adults.
We are completing our Writing Test Preparation and it has been a grueling journey. I am proud of the efforts of many of the kids and am confident they will make themselves proud next Tuesday. Keep good thoughts for us as we test on Tuesday.
March is here and it really is my favorite time of year. The weather is changing and the kids are maturing (most for the better).

My dad and my little brother watch The Simpsons every single night that it is on. Anyway I was surprized at how much I knew about the First Ammendment.

Wow! I've never watched the Simpsons before, I can not beleive more people know about it but not social studies, well actualy I can beleive it because people are to lazy to bother to want to learn now. Oh well I did better on the Amendment one anyway.

March is my favorite time of year also (next to summer!) I guess that great minds really do think alike!
We were really pushing it those last few weeks before the Writing Test but, overall, I think everyone did pretty well!
WOW! I was surprised at how hard that the writing prompt was! I am really bad for getting off topic and I think that I showed that on my test!

The quiz was thrilling!! (I realy like to do stuff on the over head projector) I learned what the 1st Amendment is now, freedom of speech, freedom of press, freedom of assembly.

I had a lot of fun with the Channel One quiz. I knew more about the 1st Amendment than I did about the Simpsons because I truly think that show is just stupid. But that is just my opinion.
