Where was that made?
In social studies we did a little comparison of where our shoes and clothing came from. 85% of the shoes in our classroom came from Asia with most of those originating in China. When the question was asked what percentage of their clothes they thought was from this region of course most of the students thought it was again 85%. Well it was very interesting to see that only a small fraction of the clothing was from this region, most of it coming from Mexico and Central and South America. We got a pretty good lesson on the India and Pakistan conflict from Hari and we appreciate his first hand knowledge and perspective. Tonight's homework is to check out at least five electronic items around the house to see where they come from.
A Christmas Carol is progressing very well. Kaisheem is a budding actor and keeps us all in stitches. The main discussion today was an interesting quote from the play that discusses how Christmas is a time when "Want is keenly felt, and Abundance rejoices." I was pleasantly surprised by just how much the kids could identify with this statement. It seems many of the kids understand wanting things this time of year. :-) Big congratulations to Samantha T., Jordan B., Hari G., and Nicole S. for having the highest scores on the team on the Vocabulary assignments from yesterday.
Field Trip money is due in. If you want to chaperone, please let us know. We would love to have you join us.

Hey Mr. Person! We are having a great time reading about how Scrooge was so cold hearted to the ones that he loved and how he regretted what he has done in the past. This story is teaching us a great lesson! Thank you Mr. Person for making things in your class so fun and interesting!

I can't wait to have social studies next nine weeks. It is getting closer and closer to Christmas. The next thing that you know we will be coming back to school after Christmas Break and be in your social studies class. Hey Mr. Person!

Mr. Person, did you find Tasha's eyeball? She can't seem to see a darn thing. Well, keep up the good work whooping her tail everyday. Pop her in the head for me. Not too hard, cause she might lose her other eyeball.

Hello again, I have a suggestion for Mr. Person. Could you make a PDF of the 'Absent Friend Letter' and maybe other documents that a student may need so we can print them out at home if needed. It would very helpful and practical to everyone. If you already have these things, where is it located?

I am kinda looking forward to social studies! It might be very fun with Mr. Person as the teacher. last year it was very boring with my other teachers.

I liked the Christmas Carol because it teaches people a story about giving, and not to be stingy with your money and help the poor, so they will have a good Christmas.

Hey Mr. Person I think the Christmas Carol book was better than the movie because, in the movie it skipped little parts that were in the book.

Hey Mr. Person I think the Polar Express was very good because, it was in 3D and the way the only way you can hear the sley bell is if you believe in Santa Claus.
