Champion Cheerleaders

Norwayne Cheerleaders.jpg

Those that know me might be surprised, but on Saturday I spent the day at the Wayne County Cheerleading Competition. I make it a point to go out to as many of the school's athletic events as I possibly can and this was no exception. Every year I enjoy teasing my cheerleaders, but what they do is hard work and I wanted to be there to cheer them on in their BIG Wayne County Competition. Temple Langston.jpg

Mrs. Langston and I arrived at Southern Wayne at about 1:30 and were greeted at the front gate by Mrs. Sodoma. I had Lizzie (the Questionator) a couple of years ago and her little sister is a cheerleader in another class down the hall. Little Miss. Sodoma needed an ankle taped up and a couple of the other girls wanted the “tough look” so they got some wrists done also. Temple and I circulated around and took some pictures (I took some great ones before I put film in the camera) and then we settled in with those rowdy Cobra Moms and Dads for a loooonngg day in the sun. Mr. Luna, the Cobra Spanish teacher, was there as was Coach Jernigan and we had a great time talking to them. sodoma.jpg

The competition was stiff, the crowd was animated, the sun was bright, and it was an excellent day. Miss. Sodoma hit her jumps and runs and tumbles. The music was loud and exciting. The cheerleaders were animated and focused and the girls were, in all honesty, AWESOME!

Norwayne won their division!

As great as that is, it wasn’t the end. CB Aycock won second place in the High School Junior Varsity Division (Congrats Mrs. Cristie Uzzell) and the Falcon Varsity girls came out on top in a very strong division. Our girls have set the bar high for next year and have a strong program to look forward to joining at the high school.

Gail Pittman and Michelle Darden.jpg The Cobra Cheerleaders have worked hard and are very deserving of their success. Coach Pittman and Coach Darden have done a great job and deserve a huge "Thank You" for their hard work and dedication.
